The 1224 running shoes, which updated the 1223s are now the top of the line of New Balance running shoes. These have the most cushiest feel of all the shoes, the only one as cushy is the 992s. Some people who said the 1224 feels like it runs just a drop shorter than the 1223s, but I tried the same size and they felt perfect to me. These shoes also have great support for over-pronation which stops your feet from rolling in, and prevents you from running on the insides of your feet. We feel these are the best update of the regular running shoes.

The best trail update is the 909. The new 909s are the first shoes which are as comfortable as our all-time favorite new balance shoes, the old M903 trail runners. We thought those were so great we had New Balance make an extra run of almost 1,000 pairs just for our store. We still have a few in stock and I have 6 pairs in my closet. Yet these 909s have been on my feet for the last 2 weeks, and for the first time in 6 years, I have a new favorite everyday shoe.

New Styles

The 920 (as in H2O) water shoes. These shoes have a Vibram sole and a feature called H2Flow which allows water to run out of the bottom of the shoes. We took a pair each with us on our last trip to Costa Rica and wore them on lava rocks and then on hot sand and into the ocean. The walk back to the hotel was about 1 mile, and the shoes were dry and incredibly comfortable even after coming out of the ocean. Anyone who needs shoes for water activities should try them. They only come in D and 2E widths for men, but do fit a little wider than most shoes.
